Get your property photo ready

Our how to guide to set yourself up for the best photos

Get Started

Clean.

Perhaps the most important step! Everyone wants to start with a clean space upon move in. Have your property spotless before your shoot, or hire help to get you there. We can recommend cleaners, if needed.

Declutter.

Clean off those kitchen and bathroom counters. A nice soap and hand towel are fine, but no need to keep everything out on display. A minimal counter always photographs better…less is more!

Depersonalize.

Time to take down all those family photos— it helps prospective buyers envision the property as a place to make their own. Also—privacy! Listing photos live on the web and some feel more comfortable without their family included.

Yard Space.

Clean up those leaves and kids toys and sweep that pool. Decluttering not only applies to the indoor areas, a clean outdoor area says you’re on top of your game and take care of your whole property.

Day Of Preparation

Hide your stuff.

We all have lives, we all have trash cans, and paper towel holders. For photos, let’s hide all these less than glamorous necessities. Shoes and dog beds too.

Utilize your garage.

We rarely shoot the inside of garages (unless requested). Use this space to hold all your extra stuff without stress.

Bathrooms

If you have a glass shower, please relocate all hair care, soaps and whatever else you have in there. Remove bath towels or hang them nicely on the rack so the bathroom feels more polished.

Yard.

Please refrain from spraying down the concrete on shoot day…wet pavement isn’t the look we’re after.

Move outdoor trashcans out of sight.

Move all automobiles out of the driveway

Timing & Coordinating

Exterior Shade

We prefer to shoot the front of homes while they’re in the shade, so let us know when it is shaded or what direction the home faces and we’ll try to work around the sun.

Harsh Indoor Light

Have big windows that the sun blasts through? An unexpected time of day when the house is super dark? We’d like to know these times to shoot the home in the best conditions.

Convenience

It’s usually best for us to shoot properties when the tenant isn’t home, or if they leave the property upon our arrival. We can be in and out quicker when no one is home and the tenant doesn’t have to be confined to one room. Sometimes a vacant home isn’t possible and that’s totally fine as well. If they have concerns about a random person in their home, tell them that I am part of your team.

Lockboxes

When possible, please refrain from putting lock boxes on the front door. Exterior photos look better when there isn’t a lockbox cameo.

Booking

Communication

Want a quick response? Text us (at 530.354.6068) and let us know you have a listing you’d like shot. Include services needed, and we’ll figure out what time works best. Make sure all important info is in writing for us to reference (no voice memos).

Dates

In your booking request, send over the dates you're available for us to shoot, and the day you plan for your listing to go live. We want to make sure we get you your content in a timely manner.

Turn Around

We typically have a 24-hour turn around for photos and virtual tours. Videos and drone footage usually take 1-2 business days, but can be longer depending on the video requirements.

Have ideas? Tell us!

Communicate your needs. Have a tight turn around? Rush delivery is available. Have a brilliant marketing idea? We’d love to customize your media. We’re always wanting to try new things and make the best content possible, so we’d love to hear how we can change it up.
